Movie Review: Walk the Line

I thought this movie was excellent. I want to give it a solid "A" grade. However, I know that movies that can accurately depict the troubles of addiction without glorifying it speak to me, so I have to take that into consideration also. With an "addict adjustment factor" thrown in, I'll give it a B+.

The first troubling part of the movie has more to do with Joaquin Phoenix and the fact that I love the movie "Gladiator" and have seen it a billion times. Joaquin isn't in too many movies that I see, so he is the creepy little Caeser to me. It took about ten or fifteen minutes to get past this during "Walk the Line".

After that, I thought the movie was great. Reese Witherspoon was great as June Carter and the two leads did a good job at capturing a forbidden spark.

Not too much to comment on about this, except that I liked it. The movie did a nice job capturing the rise, drug-induced fall, and return to glory of a real American icon. Go see it.
