Finally...
Last night was the night. I hooked up the Xbox360 and played about 2 hours worth of Kameo. 3d cameras usually make me wanna blurch, and after about 10 minutes I thought I was going to be history with this game. But amazingly I was still fine after 2 hours.
Some notes and tidbits:
Kameo looks really good. Even on my 10+ year old 32 inch Sony tube, it looked noticably awesome in color and detail.
My Xbox360 works just fine. No blinking red lights. No scratched discs. No overheating. It just plain works.
My Xbox360 is quieter than a regular Xbox. My first Xbox was a noisy pig. I thought I had a bad unit. I wasn't all that surprised when it died after only 15 months. When I bought a replacement, it was equally noisy. I guess that's just how the original Xbox is. The 360 is a lot quieter. I had the 360 sitting on the coffee table next to me, and it was quieter than the original that sits behind a glass door 10 feet away.
My Xbox 360 doesn't get that hot. After 2 hours, the massive yet fairly quiet power brick was merely warm. Maybe when I my HDTV and start putting out HD signals with the 360 it'll get cooking. But for now while doing SD output it is cooler than the original Xbox.
The shoulder buttons on the 360 are weird. I assume I'll get used to them, but right now they seem kind of worthless above the triggers. I remember that the PS1 shoulder buttons were more natural to use. They didn't have triggers under them, just two buttons. Hopefully I get used to it.
With all these reports of 360s hitting the shelves of stores again, I might've missed my window of opportunity to sell this thing on eBay and make some bucks.
