Don't Do It!
So I'm driving in to work this morning when I find myself between two big tanker trucks. The kind that carry gas to gas stations. And I'm thinking to myself:
"If I can take both of these suckers out and get them both to flame, that'll be $200,000!"
If you haven't figured it out, I started playing Burnout3: Takedown last night. Yeah, I know. You've been playing it for months. So I don't usually jump on the new games right away. I'm a cheap bastard and I hate paying $50 for a game. I like to give them "the test of time" and try to pick them up later when the price goes down. But that only works for PC games, because a good/great Xbox game will still be $50 six months later.
So if you don't have this game, go drop half a hundy and get it. You won't regret it. Trust me.
I'm not a big fan of driving games in general, but this one is genius. The object of the game is to crash, and to crash spectacularly. Since I pretty much always crash in any driving game I'm already half-way there. :) Having to crash spectacularly sure is fun, though. There's just something satisfying about the way the game counts up the damage, too. In "Crash Events", a dollar value is assessed for each damaged or wrecked vehicle. (Get the taker trucks to flame up. They are worth $100k when totaled.) After the mayhem has concluded, the camera does a fly-by of the area. It works it's down each street around each corner, putting a stick with a dollar amount on each wreck in turn. It goes fast so it is pretty cool. When you 30 vehicles stacked up, it is pretty fun.
So go get this game. Now.
